Roadmode Ltd ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your personal data when you use the Road Mode mobile application and website (together, the "Service").
1. Data controller
Roadmode Ltd is the data controller for the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. If you have questions about how we handle your data, contact us at support@roadmode.uk.
2. What data we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and the role you select (learner, instructor, or parent). Instructors may also provide business details such as their ADI badge number, teaching area, and pricing.
Lesson and progress data
We store records of lessons, skill assessments, and progress through the driving syllabus. This data is created by instructors and learners as part of normal use of the Service.
Location data
With your permission, we may collect location data during driving lessons to enhance your learning experience. You can disable location tracking at any time through your device settings.
Usage data
We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, and device information (operating system, app version, screen size). This data is anonymised where possible.
Payment data
If you make payments through the Service, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your full card details. Stripe's privacy policy governs how your payment data is handled.
3. How we use your data
We use your personal data to:
- Provide and maintain the Service
- Match learners with instructors in their area
- Track lesson progress and skill development
- Improve our driving syllabus and learning tools
- Process payments between learners and instructors
- Send service-related communications (e.g. booking confirmations)
- Detect and prevent fraud or misuse
4. Legal basis for processing
We process your personal data on the following bases:
- Contract: Processing necessary to provide the Service you signed up for
- Consent: Location data collection, which you can withdraw at any time
- Legitimate interests: Improving our Service, preventing fraud, and ensuring security
5. Who we share data with
We share data only with the following categories of third parties:
- Other users: Instructors can see their students' progress. Learners can see their instructor's profile and availability.
- Hosting and infrastructure: We use cloud hosting providers to store and process data securely.
- Payment processing: Stripe processes payments on our behalf.
- Analytics: We may use anonymised analytics to understand how the Service is used.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
6. Data retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it (e.g. financial transaction records).
We may retain anonymised data for service improvement purposes.
7. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erase your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict processing in certain circumstances

The Service is intended for users aged 17 and over (the minimum age for a UK provisional driving licence). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 17. If you believe we have collected data from someone under 17, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. International transfers
Your data may be processed on servers located outside the UK. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with UK data protection law.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the Service or by email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised.
12. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
